Alright, so much has happened since my last post. Here's my best attempt to summarize the last 15 months in one post.

Dad's 50th!

I have the most beautiful niece ever! (Stephen and Hattie had a baby girl.)

Shew! I'll spare you all the details but that pretty much sums it up. Reagan and I went to WV this weekend to visit for Stephen's 26th birthday. That will be my next post.

Easter 2010

For some reason, the pictures are out of order so you really need to start from the bottom to see Reagan on Easter morning with her basket from the Easter Bunny. We had a fun-filled and very busy day! Reagan woke up at about 6:45 and went through everything in her Easter basket (chocolate covered marshmallow Easter bunnies, Peeps, bubbles, M&M's, and a Kai-Lan Magna-Doodle). She went straight for the candy first!

Reagan spent some time with Mamaw and Papaw Fields while I went to church this morning and then it was on to Gran's for Easter lunch and Easter egg hunt. Reagan had a blast playing outside...she didn't eat much because there was way too much action going on!

Then, we went to Mamaw and Papaw French's house. I don't have any pictures but she also had a blast playing in the front yard with Corey and Josh. She was asleep on my lap for the Easter egg hunt at their house.

Overall, it was a fun day. Reagan and I are both exhausted!

Final Four game

Stephen and Hattie came over to mom and dad's to watch WVU play Duke in the final four game. Unfortunately, WVU lost but everyone had fun playing outside before the game started.

I tried to get a picture of Hattie's baby bump but she doesn't really have one!! My very first niece is due on 9/5.

Dad is in the process of building another deck on the back of the house...he's supposed to be finished with it in time for his 50th birthday party on 4/30.

Nana and Pops bought Reagan this push car as an early Easter present. She was able to get out and ride for a couple of days before the weather turned yucky. However, she mostly enjoys getting in and out of it herself over and over again rather than riding around in it. It's hard to believe how quickly she is growing up! She'll be 17 months old in less than a week. Crazy!

I have enjoyed being able to get Reagan outside in the warm weather since we haven't had much of it in a long time! At first, she acted like a caged animal that was so excited to get out for a while...but, she still hates to swing and she hates the grass. I guess it's just going to take some time for her to get used to because she remembers nothing about last summer! So, being able to play outside and know that it's ok to fall down and get grass on her is something completely new to her.

But, we're going to have a blast this summer. She loves to be outside!

So, just when I found a job in Louisville and was prepared to move life took a crazy (but good) turn. A week before I was supposed to start my new job in Louisville, Bruce was offered a promotion which will now move us to Columbus- which I think is a great place! So, Reagan and I are still staying with my parents until we can find a temporary place to live in Columbus. Once I find a job there, then we'll buy a house. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy spending lots of time with Reagan. My last day of work in Charleston was 3/4...once again, because I was preparing to move Reagan and I to Louisville to have my family under one roof...finally! So, I'll have some time off until I can find a job in Columbus. And hopefully, not too much longer until the three of us are together again! It's been a long 10 months!

My birthday/Super Bowl party

The Super Bowl was the day before my birthday this year...although, given the outcome of the game I would rather forgot about both. Anyway, Reagan and I spent the weekend in Louisville with Bruce and came back into town in time for the game on Sunday. Stephen and Hattie come over to watch with us. Hattie made me a delicious chocolate cupcake-cake with chocolate icing (actually, she made 2)!

The game was terrible but the food and gifts were fantastic!

Reagan loves to brush her teeth! I forgot her toothbrush in WV so she's currently using a spare that we had at the apartment in KY. When she sees the toothbrush in the bathroom she says "teesh, teesh". Bruce or I will brush her teeth first and then we let her do it herself. She would brush her teeth for hours if we let her. Sometimes she throws a fit when we take the toothbrush away. I'm sure that it won't last for long and then we'll be holding her down trying to brush her teeth. But for now, I'm enjoying the fact that she enjoys it.

Happy New Year! We're looking forward to everything that 2010 brings!

I never let her play with my iPod but I let her hold it so that she would stand still long enough to snap the picture. We bought her the outfit for Christmas and this was the first time that she had worn the boots and she loved them! She kept on walking around looking at them and when we took them off of her she tried to put them back on.

We had a great Christmas this year even though it's not at all what I had in mind...no Christmas tree, we're still not living in the same house...actually, Bruce and I don't even live in the same state. But, we made the best of it, we're thankful for all of the things that we do have and reminded ourselves that next Christmas will be different. For the most part, Reagan wasn't really interested in the gifts...but she was VERY interested in the food. She LOVES to eat! We had three stops to make on Christmas- 1) Bruce's parents house 2)my Gran's house 3) my Mamaw and Papaw's house. I'm disappointed that I didn't take very many pictures but here are a few...

Gifts from Santa

We didn't get to put a tree up because of the timing of selling our house so Santa just left the toys in the middle of the floor on Christmas morning. If Reagan understood that her toys were from Santa she would probably want to send them all back...she's not a fan of Santa to say the least.

She played with these toys for about 5 min and then she moved on...maybe next year.

This year, we exchanged gifts and ate lots of food with Mom, Dad, Stephen and Hattie on Christmas Eve. Usually we go to mom and dads on Christmas night but this year it worked out a little differently.

It was a great evening! I'm pretty sure that Reagan ate her weight in food...if there's food sitting around then she could care less about anything else. She was more excited about the food than she was the presents!

I'm way behind on blogging- go figure. These pictures were taken the weekend before Christmas when Reagan and I were Louisville. Sometimes we come up with some creative ways to pass the time (i.e. entertain Reagan) since we're cooped up in a one bedroom apartment. Pushing her around in a laundry basket would be one of those creative ways...

Se doesn't looked very thrilled in either one of these pictures but she actually loved it! Bruce and I had to keep taking turns because she didn't want to stop!

Fall cookies

A couple of weekends ago, I baked some sugar cookies (yes, Stephen- the wonderful break apart kind) and decided to let Reagan help put the icing and sprinkles on them. Well, it went just as I expected. She was ALL about wanting to eat them but had no interest in decorating.

Speaking of eating, I had no idea that a 1 year old could eat so much! Reagan eats A LOT! Maybe all 1 year old kiddos do, I'm not sure. She went through a phase where she was pretty picky about the things that she ate but some days I think she would eat anything!

Reagan discovered these beaded necklaces at her sitter's house and she went through a phase that lasted a couple of weeks where she wanted to wear them all the time. These pictures were taken after her bath....

The reason I haven't been blogging lately is all my aunt Karen's fault. You see, she let me borrow this book called The Talisman Stephen King so instead of blogging I've been reading that book...a book that I would never buy or get from the library. It's practically sci-fi (which I despise) but for some reason I'm hooked. I'm only on page 327...out of 798!

Anyways, so you ask...what has our little love bug been up to lately? Um...walking!! She's all over the place- into nooks and cranny's and cabinets and corners....behind tables, under tables, on top of tables (ok, I'm getting carried away), etc.

She's been a great help to my "I wanna lose 15lbs really really soon" plan. Here are some pics.

Yes, her onesie is way too big. Well, let me re-phrase that...it WAS way too big two weeks ago when I took these pictures. Now, it fits. See the next post for the story about the beaded necklace. (Sorry for the annoying underlining, I can't figure out how to fix it).

No formula, no bottle

Today is the first day that Reagan has had no formula and no bottle. Her pediatrician said that we could get rid of the bottle and formula and start her on whole milk. So...that's what we did. But, I didn't think it would quite be this easy.

I gave her some whole milk with her dinner this morning and she couldn't drink it fast enough. I gave her a couple of ounces in a sippy cup...I think she would have drank the whole gallon if I would have offered it! However, she's been known to love something the first time around but not want to have anything to do with it the second time so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I thought that she might be fussy before bedtime because that's her routine...bath, bottle, then bed. But, she didn't skip a beat. I hope it continues going this smooth!

The hard part is going to be taking the paci away! We'll wait a couple of months for that.

1yr doctor visit

Today, Reagan had her 1year well visit with her pediatrician. She had to get 4 shots (second flu shot, chicken pox vaccine, MMR, and another booster) and her finger pricked for anemia. She's growing like a weed...well, sort of. Here's her stats:

Weight: 22.2lbs- 70th percentile (she was 21lbs at her 9month visit)
Height: 30.5inches- 90th percentile (she was 28 3/4 at her 9 month visit)
Head: of course, I can't remember the measurement but she's in the 95th percentile...SMART!

At one year Reagan is:

not fully walking, but taking lots of steps
sleeping 10-11 hours at night
eating regular food...no more baby food. She's a pretty good eater...although, she's becoming pickier every day
say "what is that?" ALL the time
loves to "read" books/magazines
says "momma" and "daddy"
as Bruce would say..."she has a mean pointer finger". She loves to point at things!

We can't believe that she's already 1yr (and five days) old!

Reagan's First Birthday Party

Reagan's first birthday party was this past Saturday at a local church. We had light snacks (veggie tray, cheese and cracker, chips and dip, etc), then Reagan (well, Bruce and I) opened up her gifts, had cake and called it a day. Reagan was in a good mood, loved her cake, and was overwhelmed with all of the people and gifts.

Hattie, my SIL, made both of Reagan's cake and some butterfly cookies for party favors. She did such a great job!

Reagan turned 1 today!

It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed (I'm sure that everyone says that!). It's been the sweetest, most gratifying, tiring, fly-by-the-seat of your pants year! We have loved every minute of it!

We sort of had a mini-celebration (her b-day is on Saturday). Today, I cooked breakfast (Reagan loved the biscuits and gravy!), we went to the Clay Center for a couple of hours, then came home and made ice cream sundaes- which was probably Reagan's favorite part of the day.

First Haircut

Reagan had her first haircut last Friday because we had family pictures taken on Saturday. Her haircut was nothing major, just a trim. She did great! Bruce fed her some goldfish crackers while I snapped a few pics. Within 10minutes the whole thing was over.

We took her to Krista, the same lady that cut my hair when I was little.

First Trick-or-Treat

We dressed Reagan up as Minnie Mouse for her first trick-or-treat. Of course, she didn't have a clue what was going on but she was a good sport...she even left her mouse ears on all evening. We took her to about 15 houses in Mamaw and Papaw French's neighborhood and then we stopped by to see Hattie and then on the Fields' house. Mom and dad stopped by Mamaw and Pawpaw's to take a couple of pictures.

Bruce came in town from Louisville just in time for trick-or-treating...he'll be in WV with us until this Sunday. Yey!

Bruce's 5k

Bruce ran in a 5k in Louisville on Saturday with Tim (a co-worker). Reagan and I went to cheer him on! (Reagan and I also walked the 5k with Stacey and Brennah (Tim's wife and daughter). Bruce ran it 26:48! His goal was 28min so exceeded that by a little over a minute. Yey!

I started at 8o'clock on Saturday morning and it was freezing cold! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures because my camera was dead and I didn't have my charger with me in Louisville. Bummer! Reagan fussed most of the time because she had to wear her winter coat and she hates coats! I guess she'll get used to it eventually.

After the 5k, we went to breakfast with Tim, Stacey and Brennah. Then, we went back to the apartment and napped. Reagan napped in Bruce's arms for 2hrs! She played catch-up on her sleep all weekend. After napping, we played for a bit, made a trip to Target and went to dinner. Reagan was in bed by 7 and slept until 7 Sunday morning. We went to breakfast on Sunday, played for a bit and then Reagan and I headed home around lunch.

We had a great weekend...way to go Bruce!

When mom, dad, Karen, and Mitch were here we went to Lynn's Paradise Cafe for brunch. It's in Louisville and has been featured on the Food Network. The food was delicious!

I got the Bourbon Ball French Toast. It was huge and I ate every bit of it!

Montgomery Farms

Mom, dad, Karen and Mitch came to Louisville to visit two weekends ago. We went to Montgomery Farms (a farm in IN that has a petting zoo, playground, pumpkin cannons- sometimes, corn cob cannon, etc.). It was very windy and chilly so we didn't stay very long. And, we were a little disappointed with the activities. You even had to pay to play on the playground!

Falling asleep

Twice in the past couple of weeks Reagan has fallen asleep in the floor...on her own...for her afternoon nap. Sometimes getting her to take a nap is a battle and other times its a piece of cake. On these two days it was most definitely a piece of cake! She just played until she couldn't play anymore.

However, she's currently throwing a fit because I put her down for a nap...today would be a battle. Oh well, you can't have it all.

Walking away

Last week the weather was terrible...I think it rained every day! So, every day this week Reagan and I have taken at least 2 walks. The weather is a little chilly, but we HAD to get outside. It's hard to believe that it's already October and we won't be able to walk outside much longer. I guess Reagan and I will become "mall walkers".

Reagan has also started "cheesing" for the camera but she usually ends up closing her eyes...just like the picture below.

You can't tell in these pictures, but Reagan has 2 more teeth for a total of 6! Her 2 newest teeth have just cut through the gum...one is on the top and the other is on the bottom. After her terrible week last week, I wish they would all just come in at once!

A couple of weeks in review

Reagan and I have been in Louisville since last Wednesday and we'll be here for a couple more weeks before I have to work in the office again. So, I've been working remotely in Louisville which is not an easy thing! That's the main reason I'm behind in blogging because at times when I would normally blog (ie. nap times, bed time, etc.), I've been working. Reagan has been very fussy the past couple of days and hasn't been sleeping well...teething I suppose. However, today has been a breath of fresh air! She's back to her playful, easy-going self...I think.

So, I thought that I would just do one post to catch-up on the past couple of weeks...

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Nana and Pops came to visit over Labor Day weekend. They got here Friday evening (after the purchase of a new battery along the way). Friday evening we ordered pizza and hung around the apartment. On Saturday, we ventured downtown and had lunch at Joe's Crab Shack and then walked over to festival that was going on downtown (the name of it escapes me at the moment). Here's a picture from the weekend.

They left on Sunday afternoon and took Reagan with them. Bruce and I had a date afternoon/night and I left Monday afternoon to head back to Charleston to work for the week.

GASLIGHT FESTIVAL

This past weekend, we went to the Gaslight Festival on Saturday. It's a local arts/crafts festival with music and a karaoke competition. But really...we will go to any festival for the food! We walked around for a bit and then we watched some of the karaoke competition for the 5-12 year olds...that was a hoot! Since the WVU vs. Auburn game was Saturday night, we were all dressed in our WVU gear. Here are some pictures from the day.

The Colts played the Dolphins on Monday night...that's a big game in my family because Stephen is a huge Dolphins fan and of course, I love the Colts! So, I had to take a picture of Reagan in her Colts jersey (this was a baby shower gift...I've been waiting a year for her to wear it- thanks Tina!!)

I always check on Reagan before we go to bed every evening to make sure she's asleep, covered up, etc. Well, this is what I found last night...

It's a little hard to tell in this picture, but she is sitting with her head on the floor of the pack n'play and she's out like a light! I turned the light on to take this picture and she never moved a muscle. I had to pick her up and lay her down. I can't imagine how you would feel after a night of sleeping like that!

Lazy Sunday

We didn't do much of anything yesterday...we were all still tired from our busy day on Saturday. We did go out for a late lunch at PF Changs, made a trip to Cold Stone for ice cream, and took an evening walk...I don't have pictures of the outings though.

KY State Fair

We spent the majority of the day on Saturday at the KY State Fair. It's held in Louisville...only about 15 or 20mins from where we are. We got there around 12:30 on Saturday afternoon and left around 4:30 or so. Reagan was excellent all day! Bruce and I joke that she has "go" in her blood because sometimes she can be so fussy just hanging around the house, but when you take her out she normally doesn't fuss a bit!

9 month dr. appt.

Reagan had her 9 month well child visit yesterday. Here's her stats:

weight- 21lbs...90th percentile
height- 28 3/4 inches...90th percentile
head- 18.5- 95th percentile

She had to get a hepatitis B shot and a flu shot. She'll get another flu shot when she goes back for her 1 yr well child visit in November. She's now allowed to have anything except for shellfish, eggs, and peanut products. She can't have shellfish or eggs until she's 1yr old. No peanut products until 2yrs old. She'll stay on formula until she's 1 yr old.

Once again, I'm a little bit behind in posting...she's been crawling for about 2 weeks. She's also pulling up on the couch, tables, her crib, anything she can get her hands on. It might be a little bit before I trust her enough to step back and take a picture of that though!

And of course, she can get from one side of the room to the other in the blink of an eye. It was difficult trying to take these pictures because I couldn't get her to stay still for very long.

Reagan's 9 month dr visit isn't until 8/25 so you'll have to wait patiently for her stats.

At 9 months Reagan is:

becoming more brave every day
eating about 24 ozs of formula, a veggie and a fruit for lunch and dinner, and puffs for snack
not rolling over
not a napper...thank goodness she sleeps all night (10-12 hours)
loves to go for walks and be outside
scooting all over the place
beginning to pull herself up on things
not too far from crawling
the BEST thing that has happened to us!

Kentucky Horse Park

A few weekends ago when Reagan and I were in Louisville visiting Bruce, we took a trip to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington (about 45min from Louisville). It was such a beautiful place with horses everywhere! Reagan was really unsure at first, but it didn't take her long to warm up to them. I think that she was still a little too young to fully enjoy it but I'm sure we'll be making many more trips in the future.

Reagan makes such a mess splashing when we try to bathe her in the sink, so we decided to try the bath tub. And...she loved it. Imagine that! She's definitely our little water bug, or maybe all babies love the water.

For some reason, Reagan has become fascinated with a certain pair of her shoes. She holds one of them in her hand and then sort of plays hot potato with the other one will jabbering and yelling at them. I think that she has invented some kind of game but Bruce and I haven't figured it out yet. She sat in the floor for almost an hour on Saturday evening and about the same amount of time on Sunday morning playing her "game" with the shoes. It's hilarious to watch her...she even jabbers in a different tone of voice that Bruce and I haven't heard before.

Waterfront Park

On Saturday Bruce, Reagan, and I went down to the waterfront. There are several nice parks, picnic areas, and a couple of restaurants on the river in downtown Louisville. We walked around for awhile and stopped at one of the parks to let Reagan swing. The swing was a little different so at first she wasn't quite sure about it. Once she got used to it, she loved it.

The Semi-move

As of July 1st, I was officially a part-time a worker bee. Now that I'm part-time, Reagan and I will be spending more time in Louisville with Bruce. So, I guess you could say that we're semi-moving. Until we sell our house and buy one in Louisville I won't consider us officially moved. Reagan and I came to Louisville last Wednesday and we'll be leaving this Wednesday because I have to work this Thursday and Friday, and Monday-Thursday of next week. So far Reagan has adjusted well. Until yesterday, she was taking a morning nap (about 30-45min) and an afternoon nap (1-2hrs) and she's been sleeping about 11hrs at night!

4th with the Fields'

Leonard (Bruce's brother), Kathy and the boys spent the weekend camping in Poca. I can't remember the name of it but the camp ground has several small ponds for fishing and pool (for swimming that is). We spent the 4th of July at their camp...(by the way, when I say "camp" it's a 20 something foot camper equipped with a bathroom and A/C- not a tent). Back to the story, so we spent Saturday at the camp along with Leonard, Shelia, Keith, Vicki, Jack, Tina and the girls.

Reagan was great all day long! We took a blanket for her to lay on, toys, a walker, and her mini baby pool. So, she kept busy! Little Leonard took Reagan for a dip in the big pool. I didn't get in but I heard the water was pretty chilly...Reagan didn't seem to mind it a bit. She stayed in for 10 or 15min.

We (by "we" I mean Little Leonard) cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill for dinner. We were at the camp from about 12:30pm-10:30pm. Reagan stayed up way past her bedtime but didn't seem to mind. She was definitely dog tired though!

Unfortunately, I didn't take as many pictures as I thought!

Very First 5K

Last Saturday I ran in my very first 5K with mom and Karen. My personal goal was to finish in 38min or less. I ended up finishing in 32:49. I was very happy with that! I actually got first place in the female 25-29 age group...because I was the only one! Here are a few pictures to prove it all really did happen!

I can't believe that I'm including this picture...I went straight from the finish line to the curb. It was by no means a piece of cake. I thought I was going to pass out...hence the gatorade, cup of water and bottle of water.

I look forward to running more races in the future but right now I'm sticking with 5K's. I'm not ready to take on anything else yet.

Lately, Reagan has been doing a lot of this...

Well, last Thursday (on Reagan's 7 month birthday) I dropped her off at Carolyn's (the sitter) with no teeth and mom picked her up that evening and she had two bottom teeth! It's amazing how fast things can change. Which is why I'm REALLY looking forward to starting my part time schedule on 7/1.

Reagan is staying with mom and dad tonight. Our realtor showed our house this evening (really close to Reagan's bedtime) and since mom watches Reagan on Friday's anyways I just took her to mom's, gave her a bath, and put her to bed. While I was giving her a bath in the sink dad snapped some pictures...see I do get it honest!

Welcome Baby Jace

Betsy's 3rd baby, Jace Michael, was born last week on June 4th weighing in at 8lb 12ozs and 21 1/2 inches long. To me that seems huge but so far he's the smallest of Betsy's babes.

That's what Reagan would have sang last Wednesday (June 3rd) if she could talk. We went over to Stephen and Hattie's house last Wednesday to celebrate Stephen's 24th birthday. (Yea, I know...I way behind on blogging- again!) Hattie made a delicious white chocolate cake with raspberry filling.

Stephen's birthday present from Hattie- a Bull Mastiff puppy. Stephen named him Kong. Considering that he could get close to 200lbs the name seems pretty fitting.

Weekend Trip to Louisville

Reagan and I took our first (of many I'm sure) trip to Louisville last weekend. On Friday evening we went to dinner with one of his co-workers, his wife and their 2 year old. On Saturday we went to the zoo and on Sunday we went to Churchill Downs. Reagan was in such a good mood all weekend! She slept almost 12 hours on both Saturday and Sunday night. If you know anything about her recent sleep habits getting her to sleep through the night would be great in itself- 12 hours was amazing!

It's about a 3 hour drive. We left Friday around 12:30 and she slept the whole way there. We came back on Monday morning. She slept about 1/2 of the way back but didn't start getting fussy until we were about 10min from home.

Nana bought Reagan a baby pool- it turned out to be a very mini baby pool but it's perfect for her! When she first gets in she's not too sure about it but after a few minutes she's a splashing machine!

This afternoon Reagan and I met my best friend, Betsy, and her two kids, Brea and Wade at the park. Betsy is expecting her third baby on 6/4. Only two weeks away! Reagan fell asleep in the car on the way over and slept in the stroller for another 20min or so. (The blanket is on her to keep the sun off her legs- thanks Betsy for the spf 50 sun screen! I need to stock up on that!)

I took the day off today so Reagan and I ran errands, went for a walk, and made a visit to Gran's (she makes THE best salmon cakes- YUM-O!)

Reagan loved swinging in the baby swing outside. She really seems to love anything outside!

6 month stats

Reagan went to the doctor on Tuesday for her 6 month check-up. She got four more shots and one oral vaccine (the same ones that she has been getting since her 4 week visit). We found out that we have a big girl on our hands...here's her stats:

weight- 19.2 lbs, 95th percentile
length- 27 in, 90th percentile
head 17.5cm, 95th percentile

At least she's proportionate! Other than the shots, the visit was pretty uneventful. He suggested starting to give her a sippy cup with water just to get her used to it. That's the only thing he really told us to start doing that we hadn't already. Everything looks good!

This year was my first official mother's day- although I remember last year going to eat at a local mexican restaurant and getting a rose from our waiter because he could see that I was expecting. Anyways, being a mommy has to be the BEST job in the world! I don't know what I did without Reagan. She's everything to me. I had a great first mother's day relaxing with Bruce and Reagan in the a.m. and visiting with grandmas and mom in the p.m. Life is good! By the way, love you mom- you're the best!

Daddy's Little Girl

Bruce left today for KY. The plan is for him to come home most weekends. Reagan and I will venture there a weekend or two. Reagan just went to sleep about 15 min ago...after screaming for 45 min. We miss you already daddy!

It's probably going to be harder on Bruce than it is on Reagan and me. So, hang in there babe! This will all be over before you know it- hopefully!

Crying it out: Night 3

Believe or not...there was no crying! Absolutely none what-so-ever!! I laid her down around 7:45 last night, handed the monitor to Bruce and started cooking dinner (our realtor came over last night to put our house on the market so dinner was pushed back a little- no, we don't usually eat that late). 10 mins later I realized I hadn't heard any crying so I walked in to ask Bruce if she was maybe just talking herself to sleep or something- nope, he hadn't heard a peep! I went up to check on her and she was sound asleep. She slept all night long! As a matter of fact, had to wake her up at 6:30 this morning to get her ready to go to the sitter.

Please tell me it wasn't just a fluke!

Crying it out: Night 2

I don't usually have so many posts without pictures, but trust me...you wouldn't want to see pictures of "crying it out". Last night went a teeny bit better than the first. After 15min of screaming and 15min of me patting her chest and scratching her head she was on her way to la-la land. Yet again...very painful for Bruce and me! But, she slept all through the night without waking up. In fact, she didn't wake up until 6:45 this morning. I'm not sure that she's ever slept that late. I'm going to give it a couple more nights. I'm hoping by the end of week we will be close to smooth sailing (that is if I can last that long)...fingers crossed!

Reagan finally rolled from her back to her tummy this morning! She was trying to get a toy that was out of reach and had to roll over to get it. Afterwards she looked at me like I was crazy because I was clapping and telling her "yey". Another milestone met.

The big move...again

For those of you that don't already know (not sure that includes anyone that reads this), Bruce has taken a big promotion and we'll be moving to Kentucky. He starts his new job next Monday. Our house will be on the market tomorrow- hopefully! Bruce will be staying in a hotel or furnished apartment until we sell our house. Reagan and I will probably stay here until that happens. We're hoping it will sell in 90 days or so. It's going to be a big adjustment for all of us but we're really excited about it.

There could be something really exciting happening with my job but I can't post details yet. Stay tuned!

Happy 1/2 year birthday

Reagan is 6 months old today! Is it weird that I wanted to get a cake and celebrate for her 1/2 year birthday? Bruce thought so.

Anyway, Reagan goes to the dr. for her 6 month check-up on 5/19. I'm curious to see how much she's grown since her 4th month appt.

At 6 months Reagan:

is smiling and laughing often
is eating about 24ozs of formula/day (every 4 hrs) plus 2 tbsp of cereal for breakfast, and a veggie and fruit for dinner
is sitting up
is still not rolling over (for me anyways, I hear she has rolled over for Nana and Carolyn- her sitter)
takes 2 to 3 15-20min naps/day (unless it's Friday and she's at Nana's then she sleeps all day!)
sort of sleeps from about 8pm-6am (see the "What a night!" post)
loves to go for walks and be outside
is fascinated with little dogs- she LOVES sugar (Nana and Pops cocker spaniel)

Last Thursday (4/30) was dad's 49th birthday- only one more year until the big 5-0! We went to dinner Friday evening to celebrate. Reagan typically doesn't do too well past 6:30 so we had to do something semi-quick. We went to Rocko's in Hurricane.

What a night!

I know I know...I'm behind on posting. I will post some updates with pictures later. But, for now...last night. Bruce and I decided that it's time for Reagan to learn to fall asleep on her own. I always hold her until she falls asleep at night but, she's been waking up several times a night and she can't soothe herself back to sleep. We go through the same process every night- when she wakes up we try the pacifier and if that doesn't work then we try the aquarium and if that doesn't work we try patting her and if that doesn't work we end up taking her out of her bed and rocking her back to sleep. On a good night she'll wake up 1 to 2 times but on a bad night she may get up 4-5 times. Currently the bad nights have been happening more frequently than good ones.

So, even though rocking her to sleep is one of my favorite things in the world to do we decided it was time to give it up. After the most excruciating 30 minutes I've ever been through (OK- except for the recovery room after my c-section), Reagan finally gave up and fell asleep. She slept from 8pm-6am and we didn't hear a peep out of her all night. She awoke rested, bright-eyed and bushy tailed. We made it through the first night...we'll see what tonight holds. Wish us luck!

We spent Saturday evening at Nana and Pops house. Nana bought Reagan some teething rings to keep at her house. I think Reagan is starting to get the hang of it but she's still not quite sure.

Reagan hasn't started rolling over yet but she can definitely wiggle around. We always put her in the middle of her bed at night but several times when we've gone to get her the next morning she's in the corner like this...

I tried to sneak and get a picture of her sleeping because she typically sleeps with her hands behind her head like this....

She doesn't really cry when she wakes up...she just starts talking. I have no idea where she gets that from!

Sweet Potatoes and Pear Juice

When Reagan went to the doctor for her 4 month check-up he said that she could start on cereal, yellow vegetables, and small amounts of juice whenever we felt she was ready (within a month or so). As I said in an earlier post, we started her on cereal once a day (mid-morning) right after her check-up.

We decided to try out sweet potatoes a week or so ago and she seems to like them now. At first she would make awful faces and spit most of it out. She usually eats about a tablespoon or so around dinner time. We also started giving her 1/2 oz of pear juice diluted with 1/2 oz of water once a day (as recommended by her nurse because the cereal was making her constipated). She also hated the juice at first but now she LOVES it! Here are some pictures of her beautiful sweet potato face. Kisses anyone?

I haven't been doing a very good job of updating my blog. So, my goal is to make it part of my nightly routine...I'm going to take my laptop with me to bed at least 3 nights a week. That way I will have always have 3 posts/week. I'm posting this so that you guys can hold me to it!

4 month check-up

Reagan went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago for her 4 month check-up. She got 4 shots (the same 4 that she got at her 2 month visit).

Here's her stats:
Weight- 15lbs 10ozs (90th percentile)
Height- 25 inches (75th percentile)
Head- Once again I can't remember the measurement but she's in the 50th percentile

At 4 months, Reagan is:

generous with her smiles!
rubbing her eyes when she gets sleepy.
eating about 5 times/day (30ozs) plus a Tbsp or two of cereal.
sleeping about 9 hours at night.
taking longer naps (sometimes she gets in a 2hr nap).
"talking" a lot!
loving the outdoors. She loves to be in her stroller!
such a good baby- Bruce and I are so lucky!

Happy 8th Anniversary!

Our anniversary was a couple of weeks ago (3/17), but I'm trying to catch up on my blog. The Saturday before our 8th wedding anniversary (yep it's been 8 years) we went to the Chop House for dinner and then to the dog track for drinks. Reagan spent the night with Mamaw and Papaw (Bruce's mom and dad). She did great! She has stayed with Nana and Pops a couple of times during the week so that I could catch up on work. She never skips a beat...she follows her same routine that she has a home. On bed by 9pm and up between 6am-7am.

Bruce and I had a great time. We missed Reagan dearly but we've decided that we need to make ourselves have a date night once a month.

The weather this weekend was great. It was close to 80 degrees and sunny both days. We ran some errands on Saturday morning and then we went for a walk. Reagan had such a good day on Saturday...she was absolutely perfect (even in the car). We went to dinner with Bruce's family on Saturday evening for Kathy's birthday. We had to wait about an hour and Reagan never fussed a bit. She was all smiles (but I wasn't able to catch any of them on camera...go figure).
